Robert Ainslie, Ph.D., MBS

Mr. Ainslie is a consultant to Health Care Development Services, Inc. regarding laboratory operations, organization, and business development. He has been responsible for laboratory consolidation and operations of the two laboratory corporations. As General Manager, Bob directed operations most recently at the Wheaton Franciscan Health System in Milwaukee. That laboratory system serves four WFHS hospitals, a central laboratory, physician offices, outpatient centers, nursing homes and other clients. At the time Bob managed the WFHS laboratory system, there was an active outreach sales and marketing program.

Bob’s accomplishments include bringing in Lean/Six Sigma, reducing staffing from 520 FTE’s to 350 FTE’s, reducing costs from $52 million to $45 million annually, improving turnaround time, overseeing computer conversion to a new system for all sites, creating a culture of accountability, standardizing equipment and procedures, integrating employed physician lab operations into overall lab operations, participating in the planning and construction of several laboratory sites.

His industry experience includes senior laboratory management positions within multi-hospital laboratory systems. Prior to his consulting services with HCDS and his tenure at WFHS, Bob was President of Med-Ex Regional Laboratories, and EVP/COO of Affiliated Laboratories. Both laboratory systems had sales in excess of $50M.

Mr. Ainslie earned his Ph.D. in bio-Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, and his Masters in Business Science from Husson College. Bob earned his BS in Chemistry from Michigan State University. He is a Diplomate, American Board of Clinical Chemistry.
